This is what happens when the architect is the client.  The original structure is a 1,100 square foot log homestead.  Our family was growing from two to four, and spurred me to design and build onto the quaint, cozy cabin.  Since the log structure was 100 years old my strategy was to introduce a variety of playful masses, textures, and colors to include the logs to give it the playful “added on” look.

The layout of the addition features master suite, an open living space, and a guest master above the historic cabin taking advantage of the separate views offered in the rural setting.
